    /usr/share/backgrounds or /usr/share/wallpapers

    Can't remember which in 5.04. I am running Squeeze in AntiX which is /usr/share/wallpapers..

    I don't really care for the default wallpapers that come with Debian. But to each his own. So why don't you create a folder, name it 'wallpaper' and download your favorites to it. When you want to change the desktop, go to it and add them.

    By the way, the new folder you add is in 'user' (your desktop).

    Hi rokytnji and loopback,

    Thanks for your advice. What I'm looking for is the directory/folder holding the wallpaper/pictures found on;

    Desktop -> right click -> Change desktop background -> Background

    Not sure, but they might be in /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/...

    I've not used Debian proper, but they would have to be somewhere in /usr/share.
    Try this:
    Code:
    ls /usr/share
    Look through the listing, something will probably grab your attention.

    The wallpaper settings in Gnome/KDE use /usr/share/wallpapers you can also have it use wallpapers from your /home.

    Check out the propaganda-debian package it has some nice abstract art wallpapers.
