Question Changing the Welcome / Login Screen on Debian Squeeze

Okay, I just installed Squeeze because Lenny didn't have the best Bluetooth support. (Just installed blueman and everything I have works without any configuring, by the way). In Lenny, gdmsetup would allow me to choose a theme for the login screen as well as change settings for logging in. With Squeeze, fully updated, I only get a couple simple options for changing automatic login (screen shot of gdmsetup).

There is a config file that I found:
    Code:
    /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults
It is a simple config file but I do not know the available themes and cannot preview them.

Has anyone figured out how this can be fixed or if there are plans to fix this?

    The themes are in /usr/share/gdm/themes.

In SID, I have the complete gdmsetup GUI, so can't help you here.
It's strange because Testing and Unstable have the same version of the package.

Maybe ask Debian Package Tracking System - gdm ?

EDIT: Oh, you use GDM3. I use GDM. Maybe that's why.

Thanks for the themes dir. Wouldn't have found that.

I tried using Applications > System Tools > Configuration Editor to edit Apps > gdm > simple-greeter but nothing takes... Last night, I also tried editing something else for the greeter and got a message stating, basically, that nothing could be changed but the it will be fixed in later versions.

What I meant is that you should try deinstalling GDM3 and installing the GDM package.

It is tempting but I do not want to mess around with. I hate trying to fix things I have messed up... I'll just wait until the update.

I have removed gdm3 and I have installed gdm. It works, I can change my login window now. I guess that you can change your login window with gdm3 with prompt, but, who knows?

    Anyway, thanks GNU-Fan
