    Debian 60 (squeeze, testing) 64-bit

    The window for selecting kernels at startup is NOT clear. Please advise how to fix it. TIA

    Are you using gfxmenu for GRUB? Could you post contents of menu.lst file here?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
