    Debian and Ubuntu

    Hello,

I am a noob when it comes to servers so please excuse me if my question seems foolish.

I am trying to understand the relationship between Ubuntu and Debian.

I understand that Ubuntu is built on top of Debian. Does this mean Ubuntu relies on Debian for security updates? Or does Canonical create patches for Ubuntu without any help from Debian?

This is my concern: Let's say Debian releases a security patch. Will a hacker get a week before the same patch is released for Ubuntu?

    sincerely,
    ray

    Look here:
    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubuntu/ForDe...bianDevelopers
especially at "how does Ubuntu cooperate with Debian".
Perhaps you will find a hint.
