Install Aqualung in 64 Studio

As you can see in the title, I am new to linux. So installing a programm is a problem. I like to install Aqualung.
"/.configure" works.
But "make" seems to be not installed.
"checkinstall" seems to be not installed
"sudo apt-get make" does not work.
I have no internet connection with linux, because I have no idea how I install the network card. I guess this sudo command use internet?
Is there another way to compile that program?
(And just by the way, why must this be so difficult? "AARRRRGG ")

I would assume you are a musician hence the studio 64. I am also and I also tried studio 64 and I had problems with the network card but have no fear there is a version of linux that has all of the audio you can handle. artistx dot org/site3/ (sorry have not posted enough) but anyways this is the best I have found and everything works on install. If you have a way to download it it is worth it. I have never had a distro that was so thorough. This is not to say studio 64 does not have its place just when a newer person is trying to install a distro everything should work if not find a distro where everything does. Linux should not mean Hard.

If you have got a network connection you do
apt-get install aqualung
and you are done with the problem, in the blink of an eye.

So i for one would make a thread about your network problem first of all.


That said:
For compiling you need the package
build-essential

For downloading the aqualung binary you go to here:
Debian -- Details of package aqualung in squeeze
scroll down to the bottom and pick the version for your processor.
Well: you need all the dependencies listed above to be installed.
Same goes for compiling: you need all the dependencies too.
Like said: try to set up your network.
Or: download the CD/DVDs

Thank you for your help. I am downloading the artistx live dvd. If I try to get 64 studio running agian, I will first solve the network issue.
