I am new to using linux and just received Error 17 while trying to boot. Any ideas on how to fix this? I can't get the server to boot and I need to get to my files asap! Thanks.

Hi and Welcome !
Which version of Debian are you using? Boot up from LiveCD of any Linux distro and post the output of fdisk -l command. If you are using GRUB Legacy boot loader then we need to check contents of /boot/grub/menu.lst file also.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Just burn it to a CD and boot from it?

I would do a md5sum check of downloaded Iso before I burn it. Just common practise,

Make sure to burn .iso image as Image only. Sometimes users burn it as Data disk. It should be burned as an image.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
