    Installation freezes during disk partitioning

This has now happened with 3 computers. I boot the i386 iso on a usb stick and I enter my name fine and create an account with a password, and then after the time is checked, the installation gets halfway through the hard disk bar and then suddenly it freezes. Sorry if i'm a little unspecific, I've forgotten what the name of the process was exactly and I don't want to have to try again if unnecessary.

    Installation freezes during disk partitioning
    Hello and welcome!

If things are hanging during the partitioning process, try partitioning your drive the way you want it before hand, then during the installation attempt you can simply direct the installer to use the partitions that you've already created.

    Hope it works.

    Hi there

There are a few possible explanations for this behaviour. The first one if it is true that it freezes at disk partitioning then do as ozar told, try loading a live distro and then use gparted or fdisk.

In other hand it happened to me few weeks ago that I was installing from a usb netinstall that at some point tried to contact the repository for checking on packages and gets freeze. On graphical installs you don't quite see what is happening behind but you can access the console on with all messages are being sent by pressing Cttl+Alt and 1 to 7 (if I do remember correctly).
the Ctrl+Alt+7 is the console with the graphical interface which you should be while installing.

If it hangs again, try to switch to all the consoles and find out the one with the output and then we could have more info.

By the way my problem was that the distro that I had on my usb-drive had incorrect keys for validating with the repository, I guess the keys change or something and the system was waiting for an input Yes/No to continue, but the graphical interface never show anything, I saw it on the console.

    Hope It helps
    Regards
