    Understanding debian


    hi all,

    I'm a slackware user but i want to try debian, however i dont understand very well the apt-get system and the versions of debian, someone can help me?

    the apt-get system is just like slapt-get or swaret.
    for example, if you wanted to install mozilla you would just do
    apt-get install mozilla
    and it will install mozilla

    there are there releases of debian. Unstable (sid), testing (sarge), and stable (woody). Stable is just that, stable, but it is only updated every 1.5 years, so it is not cutting edge. testing is updated more often, and unstable is "the wild version".
