    Debian failed to start

    Hi folks,

    Debian 5.0

    The PC has not been run for 2~3 weeks. It was working w/o problem before.

    Just switched it on but unable to start it. At booting it forced checked the HD and was hanging here:
    ....
    ata 3:00 STATUS: {DRDY ERR}
    ata 3:00 erorr: {ICRC ABRT}
    ....
    ....
    INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/getty"
    INIT: ID "3" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min
    INIT: ID "5" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min
    INIT: ID "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min
    hanging

    Please help. TIA

    Could be dying hardrive or hardrive loose connection. I'd check the connection first by unplugging and reseating it. Then reboot. Could be a failing power supply maybe also. Hard to tell.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice. You're right. It's a hardware issue. Unplug and replug SATA and power cables of the HD solved my problem.
