Antispam Gateway
Hi Everybody,
I need to install some linux box to scan email traffic for Spam and Virus; in other words, i need to protect my LAN clients from SPAM when they connect to POP/IMAP Server located in Internet.
I was looking for a solution in google, but i only found a lot designs where the Mail Server is in the LAN.
Thanks in advance.

There are two ways this is normally done, and both are often used. There are server tools that can be applied that filter out spam, and there are tools built into the client. If you're using web-based mail, then you're down to using server-side tools to filter spam. Otherwise, you could try a mail client like Thunderbird which has a spam filter.

Hi Roxoff, Thank you for your answer, but what i need canīt be neither in the server nor in the clients. I need a router located between the internet mail server and the lan clients; this router should have installed a software which blocks spam an virus from mail packets.
Thanks in advance.

You need to use a proxy in this situation. I haven't done this before but a quick google of linux pop3 proxy or linux imap proxy produces quite a few results. If you pursue that it would be interesting to see what you find.
