    "Error 'Invalid parameters' while copying..."

    Greetings again, all,

I've searched the major forums and Google'd till my fingers hurt and can't find a solution. So, I'm posting in the hope someone is familiar with this issue and has a solution.

In short, I suddenly lost the ability to write to hot-plug VFAT devices (specifically, my thumb drive and my MP3 player).

They are correctly handled by HALD so far as I can tell, they are visible, and they are readable. However, when trying to write to them with the command line, Nautilus, or Konqueror, the error is returned

    Error ''Invalid parameters'' while copying...
As you can see, I've tried all common applications. Moreover, I am sure the file names and paths are correctly stated, and I am confident it is not a permissions issue as I belong to all necessary groups as far as I can tell and the same result occurs for user root.

Hope someone can help shed some light on this for me. I would hate no alternative but format and reinstall (although, I realize, this would give me "Squeeze"), and, besides, given the very nature of the problem, I don't know how I would back up my data!

    Thanks in advance,

    best regards,

    bezdomny

When you plug your hotplug device, what kind of log messages are you getting?
