    USB sound card does not output any sound.

    I have recently installed Debian 6 with Gnome on one of my Pentium 4 computer, witch had Debian Hurd installed on it, (I was just testing Debian HURD), and a generic USB sound card. So ok, the problem is that if i try to play some Music, it simply doesn't. I am not sure if Debian HURD did, because i didn't install X on it. I tried putting the sound card into a friend's computer, with Windows on it, and suprisingly, it worked. I went into mixer settings, but no success. Has anyone have experience with USB sound cards?

    Hello and welcome.

    Good to know the sound card's been tested and works. Some commands in the terminal might help. Please post the output of:

    Code:
    $ lsusb
    Code:
    $ cat /proc/asound/cards
    Code:
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

    Did you install any drivers in Windows?
