a problem with a wireless drive
i bought a wireless usb drive and when i hocked it up to my computer i noticed that a bar with info about wireless networks near by didn't pop up like i saw it did on on-line guides. i tried to configure the wireless connection from the system settings but i didn't understand how exactly does it work. so my question is how do i make my computer scan around for wireless networks and then connect to them. and another question.is it true that some wireless drives do not match some routers?

It's a protocol issue, more often that not.
Example, you have a new model router (wireless n, for example) and a wireless g adapter/card.
*EDIT*
This usually comes down to what wireless security you use, as well. If you set your network to use WPA2, and your adapter isn't compatible with WPA2... there ya go.Last edited by jayd512; 07-06-2011 at 07:07 AM. Reason: re-read the original question...
