I have never done it after install, but it appears obvious and common sense to me.

    do all as root:
    1. cross your fingers, pray to God, make a full back up of your current /home
2 create a new partition for your new /home - if you can NOT have it with same name
then first rename old /home to anything else like /home_old or whatever
then finish your partition creation and rsync ALL existing /home_old to /home
reboot as user for that home

that's how I would approach it
may be there are other approaches or solutions to same problem

and I would convert the ext3 into ext4 before all above

    Old thread but still relevant.

Debian User Forums • View topic - Help. How to move home directory

I have moved /home in my AntiX install to another hardrive (16gig ssd) in my dual drive Asus EEEPC Netbook after a Install. Like hans said backup first if new or unskilled. My way will not apply in your situation because I have 2 hardrives.

I explain limitations of my installer Here

    How I did mine below

antiX-forum - View topic - Dealing with a Asus EEE 900 install of AntiX 8.5

    As hans also said

    1. cross your fingers, pray to God, make a full back up of your current /home
    Good luck.
