Authentication Failure when logging in as root in debian 6 gui.

    Good morning to all!

I am just new to linux and i am trying to install debian 6(4 dvds) so that the root is the only user. During installation debian ask to enable root to login ang i click yes. then it asked to create user, i choose no. the installation went fine and when it finished, it restarted and when the login screen came out, i logged in root user and the password but it gives me "Authentication Failed" all the time. Can somebody help me sort this out please? Is it even possible to login on GUI interface using root? Hope somebody could help. Thank you so much...

    Hello and Welcome!
Is it even possible to login on GUI interface using root?
    In short... nope.
Logging in to the GUI as root is disabled in most distros.
This is a security feature, meant to keep you from accidentally mucking things up.
You should have a regular user account, and all admin duties can be carried out by using either su - or sudo.
