    Everything works fine intill I turn the power off then back on. It doesnt remeber the ips i typed in the ifconfig.

    ifconfig is only used from the command line for testing and debugging, if you want to configure your connection then it's the /etc/network/interfaces file you need to be looking at. Have a read of the debian wiki: Network - Debian Wiki
