Debian 6.0.3 Squeeze Suspend/Resume problem in Asus Laptop K53E

Hi all,

I recently installed Debian 6.0.3 on my new K53E i3 2310m Asus laptop. At first, the computer would not suspend unless I do the steps mentioned in "Fix Ubuntu (or Linux) Suspend/Hibernate Not Working Bug" ...can't post links for some reason

Now it does suspend, but when I resume, the screen does not resume and seems to remain off

My laptop uses the built in i3 intel hd graphics 3000

I aptitude installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.16.0-1 from the testing branch but still does not have video after resume.

I assume this is a graphics driver problem? Is there something I should configure it with? I only installed the intel 2.16.0 driver through aptitude but I didn't do any configuration, assuming that aptitude would do the rest..(?

Installing packages from the testing branch in stable is not a good idea, it will eventually lead to a broken system, dependency problems and instability.

Add the backports repo and try an upgrade to the latest backports kernel and xorg.

Or just upgrade to the testing branch.

I have had this problems a long time. I had it with Lenny, Squeeze and Wheezy. If shut the lid on my acer with ati hd4250 graphic it will come out of suspend but screen stays black. I have found that if I hit ctrl > alt > F1 then ctrl > alt > F7 I will get the sign in screen back. Once I do the one time it will not do it again until I reboot. This has gotten me by for about a year now.
