Debian Squeeze New Lcd Samsung syncmaster 23 screen not showing everyt

    Hi,
I tried 2 monitor already an Acer 19" and my brand new Samsung syncmaster 23''. They both miss the same thing.
    Example:
On the Websudoku site on the game grid I can't see the grid between the numbers(and it's not that I need a new presciption for my glasses)
I just tried to load Knoppix V6.4.3 I used the Iceweasel there and everything is fine.
    Here is my xorg.conf file:
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver "kbd"
    Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
    Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
    Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Configured Mouse"
    Driver "mouse"
    EndSection

    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Configured Monitor"
    # Display Size 282 226
    Modeline "1440x900_60.00" 81.80 1024 1080 1192 1360 768 769 772 802 -HSync +Vsync
    Option "PreferredMode" "1440x900_60.00"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Default Screen"
    Monitor "Configured Monitor"
    EndSection

Also I installed the ms-true type fonts a while ago could it be the problem

    Any idea ?

I have to add that it is not only the line of the websudoku grid line that I don't see with those LCDs:
some details with some grayscale is completely invisible.
I tried to use some section of the Knoppix xorg.conf file like the monitor section and the problem remains.
Like I said all is good using Knoppix but when I boot on DebianSqueeze the problem is present.

I am really cracking my head on this one.

    Thanks

    Well,
    This is confusing.
I solve this issue by exchanging the screen with another model that allowed me to connect it to the DVI port of the same video card.
The image is clear and crisp and no details are missing.
I would like some one to explain me this even if it is solved. I aAlways want to know the rational behind things, it is a part of my learning process.

    Cheers,

    Errr,

Maybe the control buttons on the LCD screens that did not work were set wrong by you, You know, Those buttons on the LCD monitor for setting up the screen. Just a guess though. My 23 incher Acer LCD I got for Christmas on my Asus Micro Shuttle Box with no /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in AntiX with Debian Testing repos displays just fine with my smxi/sgfxi version of nvidia driver for my g-force card on that box.

The screen setup stayed the same .....

Thanks for submitting this idea but, no, I almost tried every possibility: the simplest to the most bizark setup while in Debian and nothing did it.

One one instance of my tests I made sure the sceen setup were the same also with the same result with the missing details in Debian only.

The fonts looked flimsy in Debian while they were showing nice and sharp in Knoppix. I even tried to change the screen setup in Knoppix to reproduce the problem and it was obvious that I saw the details of the grid over a wide spectrum of the adjustments.
The most strange thing is that I tried an Acer screen on the same svga
output and it did the same problem.

I will try that new screen on the svga port later and see if it miss behaves also.
    Thank for your post

I finally tried my new screen on the SVGA port and the image was not as sharp but it was working fine (Not missing anything)
Then, since I had an other SVGA cable which I could have been used before on the old screen I did test it. No problems with this one either.

Conclusion: The cables were all fine, since the screen of my son (Acer LCD-older model) did the same problem: (Not showing some details like the inner grid of wesudoku)
the only logical conclusion I can draw so far is that my configuration doesn't support an older generation of LCD screens perfectly.

No matter what, if someone can bring some real explanation over this I would like to ear it.

    Thanks to you all,
