DOS attack on Debian DHCP server

I recently had a customer modem that took down my DHCP server with network traffic similar to a DOS attack. Is there a way in Debian or Webmin to monitor and alarm incoming traffic that can cause that? Any ideas would be appreciated...

I would use iptables to stop this with LIMIT Match. You just have to be careful not to lock out others that are ligit and you could possibly do that by MARK Match. Other then that you need to install an SNMP agent that monitor your network and warns you of such a event.
