    Exclamation Linux Process Information Required

    Hello,
I am a newbie to Linux-debian.I wanted to know how do we go about this scenario.
A process is consuming one of the disk partitions.
    1. I wanted to know how do we determine more information about a process before killing it?
2.If possible what files a process is consuming /creating?
3.State of the process...any other info about process which is running on the server?

Your help in this regard would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Shiva

Hello, I don't know a lot about process but I always use

    Code:
    ps -aux
But you could try with the options described at the ps man page.

You can examine open files using the lsof command. If you know the process ID
    Code:
    lsof -p <PROCESS ID>
