    XMMS sound for 5 seconds!!

Xmms was working and for no reason it started to repeat the first note for about 5 seconds and stops.I have tried 4 differant players and the same problem.I was on the bbc and tried to listen to a video clip with Realplayer
and same problem with sound.I have tried ALSA and OSS modules.Still the same problem.I have run Alsaconf and no change. My CD player works ok.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is this repitition on a stream or a media file on your disk? If it's a stream, can you play mp3s and/or other streams?

    XMMS sound for 5 seconds!!

It also does it when I try to play MP3's from my burnt CD.I thought it was the Cd so I tried another CD but the same problem. What I don't understand is I can play bought CD but audio clips or MP3's I have this problem .When I select play to listen to a MP3 song with XMMS the first sound will repeat for bout 5 seconds and stop,if I select play again it will do the same thing.I just installed a new MP3 player called "BEEP" and it does the same thing. I wiill glad if I can
solve this without having to reinstall MEPIS ,hope this helps some,if you need more info let me know.

    Thanks Kindly,
    William
