    Run process while logged out (like apache or something like this)


    Hello,
    I need to know how to run a process all the time, while Im logged in or not logged in (ssh). I deals with an virtual host. What is the easiest way to do that?

    You mean in background?
    Just append an ampersand at the end of the command or run a program and then C-z bg.

    Thanks dear Rumata,
    Im watching for the "screen" options. What do you think, is the "& disown" function more helpful?
    Whats the pros and contras between the usage of both?

    In few words, you want to run a non-daemon application like a daemon; there is a program that can help you, but it's not in debian repos: you can find it - and more info - at:

    software dot clapper dot org slash daemonize

    Finally, /etc/rc.local is the right place to launch it.
