From the Backtrack site: BackTrack is a Linux-based penetration testing arsenal that aids security professionals in the ability to perform assessments in a purely native environment dedicated to hacking. See their site:

BackTrack Linux - Penetration Testing Distribution

If you want a standard distributions where you can watch videos, etc. Backtrack seems like a poor choice. How did you try to install flash? You'll need to be more specific about what you have done and the problems you have encountered.

backtrack is locked down due to security hardening. Firstly I would recommend that you upgrade to Kali linux which is the latest version of backtrack.

In kali you cannot play flash videos on something like utube. This is what I used. Hope this is what you're looking for

    sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

press enter, give it a min and you'll be good.

    Hope this helps.
