    laptop too slow


    I have installed Debian 7 on Acer Aspire E1-571 laptop with following specifications
    Intel core i3-2350M
    intel HD Graphics 3000
    4 GB ram
    but the laptop is too slow. If i run the same video on my android phone(low end) it runs fine but it is slow on my laptop (runs with a lot of hanging). i installed the intel firmware modules but it has not improved.
    plz help

    What software are you playing videos with? I find that gnome-mplayer is more easily tweakable for performance, de-interlacing options, etc. I like to set it to use gl output and turn de-interlacing on for playing back interlaced videos, although the default settings seem good for performance, usually.

    I get my video players and codecs by adding deb-multimedia.org to my sources. The line I add for Debian 7 (Wheezy) is:

    deb Deb Multimedia Packages::Home wheezy main non-free

    Then I apt-get gnome-mplayer, w32codecs, and so on.

    And the laptop is slow on the whole n not only for the video playing..
    all applications are running slow
