play DVD on Asus DVD player with Suse 10.0

    hi ,
i had a problem with my DVD player Asus DRW-1608P2S on linux Suse 10.0 , 1st i had a problem with region and i fix it with new firmware and you can find it in this site tdb.rpc1.com " take care you must chose the right firmware or you will destroy your DVD and please read in formus 1st in www.rpc1.com and you will find all answers , 2nd i try to run a movie DVD on my mplayer but it give me error every time " couldn't open DVD device :/dev/dvd " , so i make a symlink to my DVD drive , kernel already see it as /dev/hdd ( secondry slave on my IDE ) so i write this commands :
    #ln -s /dev/hdd /dev/dvd
this way i made symlink to /dev/hdd and give it name /dev/dvd
then i give it this command to change the permessions :
    chmod g+rw /dev/dvd
so any one in this group can read and write to this drive

Ok, first of all you need a library known as libdvdcss to be able to read dvds, in the us distros cannot ship with this, so fire up apt, search and install it...I think it may be called libdvdread...then just simple xine will do the job perfectly
    Operating System: GNU Emacs
