    nv_SATA driver issue *wierd*

Hi, I'm new to the forums and to linux. I just installed debian Sarge via ftp, all went well. I have to say this is the only distrobution I have tried that did not freeze up or not detect all my hardware. I've tried mandrake, fedora, ubuntu and debian woody. Woody would not detect my vid card (9800 pro) and monitor for some reason.

I am up and running on gnome. I have a strange problem though. When I turn my machine on and boot up, while the system is going through it's detection or whatever process you want to call it I get the following constantly scrolling in-between all pertinent info:
    nv_sata: Primary device installed
    nv_sata: primary device removed
    nv_sata: secondary device installed
    nv_sata: secondary device removed

These four lines keep on repeating themselves resulting in a scrolling effect. When it does get to the login prompt, it scrolls right on by. But luckily from typing blind while scrolling it still lets me log in. So this essentially makes the initial GNU command prompt useless, because the above lines keep on repeating. Any suggestions on keeping this from happening. By the way, everything seems to work fine as I am running it off an sata drive right now. So can I just remove this driver? If so what config file do I open to edit it out?

    Thanks,
    Jack

I figured it out, I found a post from way back when on another linux board. Essentially there is a bug that interacts with certain motherboards to produce this effect. All you have to do is disable any unused SATA ports in your bios and the effect will cease. In this case I was using SATA1 and SATA2, but SATA3 and SATA4 were unused. Disabling SATA3 and SATA4 solved the problem.

I have an MSI NEO Platinum 2 Motherboard, I guess this is an issue with the latest kernel and this board.
