mozplugger shows more mime types for root

I've got mozplugger running, but I get many more mime types associated when I login as root

for example, if I log in as a normal user and view aboutlugin in firefox, I'll see 9 different mime-types that mozplugger handles

If I do the same thing as root, it handles about twice that many.

the only way that I can hear midi files through the browser is by logging in as root!

    Thanks for any help.

Check the permissions of your plugins in /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/plugins (not sure what the Mozilla dir is, but that's the FF dir). Make sure everyone can read/execute them.

    well, i got it fixed.

I read some things over at the mozplugger author's site that indicated some issues with installing programs that mozplugger needs after mozplugger and mozplugger not recognizing them. This is exactly what I had done - installed Timidity after installing mozpluger - so mozplugger didn't see it.

    the fix?

    - close firefox
    - open terminal
    su
    password
    apt-get remove mozplugger
    apt-get install mozplugger
    exit
    - reopen firefox
