so many problems!!!, can't get modem drivers off floppy, help

Please help, I am having an absolute nightmare with the Debian 3.0 r4,

I am trying to get my speedtouch usb adsl modem up and running so I can connect and upgrade online, but can't seem to work out how to get the files I have downloaded onto my linux system. I am running a dual boot with win XP. Also I can't get the desktop to work correctly, is it because my graphics card is not supported in the driver mods of the installation? I have a GE force, NVDIA driven card. Please somebody help!!
