    after booting into ubuntu for the first time, my 15" lcd panel blacked out and displayed "video mode not supported".

    How can I get around this? Where and how can i edit the boot up rez?

    Please help!!??

    I am having to boot up in safe mode otherwise I cannot see anything on the screen. When I get to the prompt root@mypc:~ # what should I do? I have tried typing your command but it says 'command not found'

    ok, hang on. When I ctrl-alt-f1 I don't know what the root password is because I was never asked to set one during installation. What is the default password?
