    CentOS and su

Is the Debian forum the correct place to ask about problems with su in CentOS?

    If so, here's the problem:

I have no problem logging in as root from a text console (alt-ctrl-F1 when KDE is running, for example). BUT... if I try "su -" in an xterm after loggin in to my own account, and then give the root password (the one that works on text consoles), it says "su: incorrect password".

Why does this happen, and what can I do so it won't happen?

CentOS is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux so the Red Hat/Fedora forum is probably best.

As for "su -", any reason you want to make it a login shell? Why not just "su"?
