Debian/Ubuntu apt compatibility
Can I use both ubuntu and debian sources for apt-get to update my packages faster?

I have heard that it can be risky but I used the Debian sources that the Ubuntu Guide provides without problems.

And what do I do if I installed KUbuntu KDE 3.4 over Debian 3.3 and it stoped working properly (all settings lost)?
- 08-01-2005 #4What do you mean? Did you use the Kubuntu KDE packages to install KDE 3.4? What kind of settings were lost?

Absolutly everything. List of programs. It does not know what to use to open files... Nor the menu nor the settings. Everything. And reinstall does not help....

Did you only use the KDE packages? If so, remove them and add the apt sources here to install KDE 3.4.1.

The source seemed to work when I navigated there through Firefox. Interesting. Anyway, sorry I couldn't help.

I use the xorg packages from ubuntu in my debian install. I just add the ubuntu sources when i want to update it, then remove it.
I did this since i have a ATI card and couldn't get a higher resolution with xfree no matter what i tried. installed xorg with apt-get and it picked it up and used high rez w/o a problem. was great.
