Linksys Wireless Adapter . . .
Okay, I have Xandros Open Circulation Edition on my other hard drive (I'm currently using XP) and I have a question about setting up my Internet connection. I've got the NDIS and everything set up, and it detected my network, but I can't get online with it. It's a Linksys Wireless-G USB adapter, model WUSB54G 2.0. The Internet connection wizard is no help, and if I can do it from there I'm clueless. I'm new to Linux, so you might have to explain a bit.
All I want to do is get on the Internet in Xandros, that's all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You've set up ndiswrapper? Okay, do the following from a terminal:
That'll set up your network and connect you to it.Code:iwconfig wlan0 essid <<YOUR SSID>> iwconfig wlan0 key <<YOUR WEP KEY>> <-- Only if you use WEP Encryption dhcpcd wlan0
DISTRO=Arch

Thanks!
Thanks! Dunno if it was what you told me or if it was what I did or both, but I'm posting from Xandros! So everything's good!
Again, Thanks!

got a question..
hi all, I have a fairly simple and newbish question, but will that code work for Ubuntu? I think (and I feel like a total newb when I say this) that Debian and Ubuntu are fairly similar.
Thanks a bunch

Haha yeah, Ubuntu is based off of the unstable branch of Debian, so it should work. And that code is universal, as long as you've already set up your wireless device.

yet another question
I have (another) question,
All I have to do is set up ndiswrapper, enter that code in Terminal, plug in my adapter and good to go? I want to make sure before I install.
Thanks again

- 05-06-2006 #10The directions on how to get a wireless device going with ndiswrapper are pretty straight forward. Take your time and follow the instructions on this page. See how far you get. If you get stuck, just post back and I or someone else will be more than happy to help you along.
