    black screen???

hey guys, i just wanna check somethign with you guys.

I d/l the DVD version & netinstall version of Debian.

Well, when i restart my laptop, and put the CD/DVD in, it asks me to boot fom CD. I pressed enter. then, there's like a 2 second loading of kernel..etc. Then, all of a sudden, the scree goes blank/black, and ther'es no trace of either the harddrive nor my dvd roms are operating. It just becomes idle...
Does anyone have any idea about what's going on here? Thx

You may need to enable or disable various options at the boot prompt. When you reach
    Code:
    boot:
press the Fx keys to go through the different information screens on booting with different options.

A common problem is that ACPI is not funtional. See what option must be passed to the boot prompt to disable ACPI. You might also want to try using the 2.6.x kernel instead of the default 2.4.x.

Without being familiar with your hardware, it's difficult to say what exactly the problem is. Are there any error messages? I believe if you do Ctrl + Alt + Fx, there are different active consoles in the installation, one being a debug console.
