desktop Icon for fat 32 system

I have a fat 32, 2 gig drive between my windows and linux so I can swap files between the two systems. I can drag some program files into the fat drive and boot back up in linux and through the command line mount the fat 32 file system and retrieve the files. My question is how do I make a desktop Icon that will mount the fat 32 system and open the folder that contains the files. I have found this forum to be invaluable to me so far and I thank you for the help that I have been able to find in the archives so far.

    Thanks,
    tonyp

Well, there are two separate issues here:

    1. Automount
    2. Desktop shortcut

    For #1, http://ubuntuguide.org/#automountfat really helped me out. It's step-by-step.

For #2, navigate to the mount point (/windows or /files or whatever) and middle-click-drag it to the desktop--then select "link here." That's for Gnome. For KDE, I think it might be right-click.
