    screen problem

ok, i got anew hard drive, and since our outher computer doesnt have much disk space left, i decided to take my previous hard drive and put it into the other computer, and reinstall debian on my new one. so i get it all installed, but when i install the nvidia drivers and reboot, the screen goes blank when it starts gdm.

    anyone know why?

i cant fix that problem, but if u can get to a command line i can help you skip gdm. go to /etc/rc2.d and type this (in root.. use "su" command):
    Code:
    mv S99gdm _S99gdm
then when you next boot up you will log in normally intead of thru gdm. type "startx" to start ur GUI once you log in normally.

Did you modify your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to mirror the change? Did you add nvidia to /etc/modprobe.preload ? It's a good while since I've used Debian but this was a necessity in Mandrake.
