i'd imagine so. just download the appropriate files and away you go.

    Code:
    apt-get install kde
    that should help
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

That command will only do a partial KDE installation.
    It is not recommended.

You need to issue this command:
    # sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

    For more information look HERE.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I'd installed KDE via apt-get install kde but I had no problems. kubuntu-desktop was a 300+MB download for my slow connection, whily plain KDE was about 173MB, Pretty manageble.

but just installing a different distro defies the entire point of this topic. besides it's more fun to mess around with stuff

    Indeed.
People also wrongly keep assuming it's the same distro (with Ubuntu for Gnome users and Kubuntu for KDE users).
Kubuntu is only an Ubuntu derived distribution and doesn't get as much suppurt(also financial) as Ubuntu.
The base system is the same though. So an "apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" will give you all the KDE goodies Kubuntu has. Never the less, keep in mind this KDE part is not directly supported by Ubuntu itself...

If this is the case then why is Kubuntu listed on Ubuntu's site as a partner project?

    According to Kubuntu's FAQ:

"Kubuntu is the first Ubuntu derived distribution. Our Kubuntu CDs are made up of Ubuntu's base plus KDE. You can get exactly the same effect by installing Ubuntu and adding the KDE packages (and removing the Gnome packages) from the Ubuntu archives."

    Cause it is.
As I said, the base system is the same, but the KDE part is not directly supported by Ubuntu and has it's own developers crew.
