    debian 2.6-kernel failed

    hi digitman here , I run debian sarge so here what I did to config my new 2.6 kernel
    kernel .org to get the sources , then untarred them to /usr/src/
    then ran make mrproper then ran make menuconfig then compiled with make && make modules_install then edited grub ,ad rebooted. the kernel has lots of warnings during compile process , and and when it boots the computer has alotof mistakes errors ...
    I know there is a debian way but i like it simple and the debian way dont work for me anyway
    caant seem to understand so i did it simple but its all messed up help

    What exactly are the errors? And how does the "Debian way" not work? Are you reffering to apt?

    the normal debian way is very easy, and I have never had problems

    apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.xxx

    Why donīt you use

    apt-get update
    apt-get upgrade-distro

    but that will not install the new kernel.
