Sounds like maybe a bad download. Did you remember to run the checksum test before trying to burn the images?

Also, make sure you are trying to burn the image to disk, not just copy it to disk.

    Let us know...

Ya , but how to do the checksum thingy. ?

Have burnt a lot of Mandrake and boot cd's and image files etc..... dont think theres problem at that end.

Even tried uncompressing the iso and then recompiling. The total time
    for download was ~ 24hrs

    Doing it all over again

If you're having problems with Nero give CDBurnerXP Pro a try. It's free as well.

I could manage to born the cd finally, but its not bootable.

Is there a way to make it bootable ?

I have the live cd also. If I copy some particular files/'s from the live cd
onto this one, will it work ?

Or rather is it possible to make one iso of live n installable cd ?
