    Which file contain the default colours for x11 applications?. I don't mean the colours in /etc/X11/rgb.txt, but the default background, foreground and possibly fonts and cusor.

    It must be there somewhere, it's just difficult to find.

    i think what your looking for is the applications method of displaying like GTK or Qt.

    for example, i have gaim using a black theme which is a GTK Theme that i applied, instead of changing the application's colour scheme etc.

    So, there is no such thing as standard colours. Every application defines its own colours. and the only way to make a global change would be to modify rgb.txt. Is that correct?

    Or could i apply such a GTK scheme to the whole system?
