Right, they're both X11; I was confused before. I've now added a gigabyte of RAM to my machine
and the tuxracer problem is gone (no, that's not why I bought the RAM
). It doesn't seem to use that much memory though, so maybe it's just coincidence. Anyway, it sure is nice to have graphics acceleration. Thanks for the help!
