Printer and Sound Issues
I'm using an HP Deskjet 722C printer here, but it won't work right under Sarge. Same thing with my new SoundBlaster. I've run ESD... or whatever the sound configuration program is called, and all I get back is "device /dev/dsp - does not exist" (or something of that nature). Also I try printing but nothing happens... anything to try? Oh, I'm running Debian Sarge.

it appears your printer uses pnm2ppa

http://pnm2ppa.sourceforge.net/
For the sound I would install alsa (depending on your kernel the installation will be differentBrilliant Mediocrity - Making Failure Look Good

For the printer, did you remember to install CUPS... then open up "localhost:631" in a web browser to setup the printer?
For sound, did you install alsa, then run "alsaconf" as root, then "alsamixer" to adjust settings, then "alsactl store" to save settings?
