    Sata drives not seen in Debian

    Is there a boot parm I can use to make my sata drives recognize in Debian? I think I am running 3.1, I'm attempting an install.

    at the boot screen trying using the 2.6 kernel by typing linux26

    I have tried using that kernel, I did the expert install as well. It doesn't see the drives, says "no partionable media found"

    Does the BIOS see the drives properly? Is this a machine that was working fine under Windows, or is it a brand new machine?

    Brand new but has had windows on it, and yes the bios see's the drives fine. 2 80 gig sata drives

    Your SATA controller may not be detectable by the default kernel modules. Do you know the make / model?
