Help! Read only file system :S

so i was ftping some files and the entire file system went read only

my entire "/" is read only

i cant create or delete any files

restarting the server is temporary not an option ... server is at colocation and its a big hassel to restart

is there some way of "soft" reboot . cause our server does not have a keyboard plugged in and we need to call them if we do reboot.

i cant start vnc , but most importantly my postfix isnt working

i still have SSH for now :S

    thx .

actually i dont think ftp was the problem

. the partitioni ftped the files to is fine

the thing i did before ftping was add and deleting new users

    i was using the commands

    adduser
    useradd
    usermod
    deluser
    userdel

i was doing these commands in root :S
