Cant run startx

Getting this message:

Fatal Server Error:
No Screens Found

I've tried running xf86config multiple times with different video setups but nothing gets it going, even with the very basic stuff, i.e. 800x600 monitor and VESA card.

System Hardware
eVGA GeForce4 TI4400
ViewSonic G90FB

I'm really new to Linux so I'm not sure where to go from here, thanks.

Ok I checked out the section pertaining to my problem, didnt really find anything that helped.

Here is some more information on the message I'm getting:

(EE) VESA(0): unknown reason for exception
(EE) VESA(0): cannot continue
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

Fatal Server Error:
No Screens Found

I've searched a bit on google but still cannot find anything that works.
