Damn! Printer Issues with Ubuntu 5.10

I just installed Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy badger) and was pleased to find out that my sound card does work with this version. But now my printer doesn't work! This is the opposite of Ubuntu Hoary, where my sound card was busted but my printer worked happily.
Here's what happens: I try to print something, the cute little printer icon appears in the upper right hand corner, and it disappears after five seconds. Nothing happens. The printer job just disappears. I have installed the printer (HP Deskjet 722C) in Ubuntu's administration printing wizard. I really want some help here because I think that after four months of searching I have finally found the right distro for me! Help!

Assuming that the solution I worked out with Sarge apply to you.

I install my printer through ..print manager.. and everything seems to be fine, no errors, but when I tried to print a test page, nothing happened ! !

I installed ...cupsys...cupsys-client, and even restart cups .....

    /etc/init.d/cupsys start

    Still no printing ! ! !

I then installed ...Foomatic ....and delete and reinstall my printer (HP Deskjet832C)....this time
..print manager let me choose the exact model for my printer and suggested a driver, I accepted.....and presto....I got printing...

You might want to try add Foomatic

    Thanks for the tip

    Hi junkman4547,
Thanks for the tip. Here I was resigned to running RedHat as a
secondary system to Sarge just to do my printing! Works okay now.
    Regards, tomt

    Glad that help.

I have lots of Debian documentations and even a book on Sarge, but none contains the solution to my problem ! ! I did everything suggested in those documentations and book and it didn't work. I was fortunate to be able to solve this on my own....
