    Automating Program startup

Quick question, if I want to start a program when GNOME starts, do I just add a line to .xinitrc? I'm asking cause i want GAIM to start without having to open it through the menu (I can never remember to do it). I'm also trying to get a general answer so that if I need to do this again I can.

I remember something abount this in the Gnome Control Centre - I think it is in Session > Startup Programs. A lot more elegant than the KDE equivalent which is drop an icon or script in ~/.kde/Autostart.

You can do what bigtomrodney said or just edit ~/.gnome2/session-manual manually.

This will do the job most of the time, but it runs the application when X is started, not specifically Gnome.
