Sound won't work with multiple programs
Hello, im running MEPIS 3.3 with an AC 97 audio card. I was wondereing how do I fix the problem im having. I am trying to use Gaim and XMMS at the same time. It works, but if I have XMMS open, I cant hear anything else. How do I set it all up so that I can still here the gaim notifications and music at the same time?

Well, I think I have figured out the problem. Apparently sound channels are a problem in linux. Is there anyway around this. I tried installing the ALSA ac97 sound drivers, nothing helped, any takers?

Is this problem in any way dependent upon ARTS?
If you disable the sound system via kcontrol is there any change? It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

The same
I got the same problem...
It depend very much by your sound card driver... a friend of mine has always worked multiple sounds...
To me, only for few weeks, after that I can run only one sound application at time!!! I've not changed anything!!!
This seems very misterous to me...When using Windows, have you ever told "Ehi... do your business?"
