    Kernel Compile Howto

Anyone know where to find an up-to-date kernel compilation howto specific to Debian? I have been searching Google for a while now and everything is ancient. I thought I saw something a while back on the debian site but I can't find it now. Under their documentation site I keep coming up with documents that have statements like "Needs to be added". I want to recompile a kernel but use my existing one as a base to build from, since it currently works. Is that possible?
