    CPU Fan...

The CPU fan on one of my computers won't turn off. It's an installation of Ubuntu on an HP Pavillion. This is the computer used by most people i the houe, so it does get annoying having the fan on ALL the time and I'd like it to turn off whenever it's not needed.

One more thing... is there any way to have "Num Lock" ON when the PC boots up?

    Thanks

Regarding the numlock, if you want it in X, then make sure xnumlock is installed and then put
    xnumlock
in your ~/.xinitrc file, and it should start when you loggin.

    Thanks.

Anyone for the CPU fan issue? Am I even the only one?

Ironically I just got this and it wasn't a fresh install of Ubuntu. Really puzzled. Any help would be awesome.
