    gaim help



    im trying to get my gaim to connect for an aim account. when i go to connect it says it cannot connect to the host. My internet is working fine. ive tried to use login.oscar.aol.com with port 23 under a proxy but that just makes it sit at the connecting screen,

    any ideas?

    if this doesnt work, can someone walk me through installing aim's version of linux?

    You can try the official AIM client by downloading it from here. You didn't mention what distribution you're using, but since you posted in the Debian forum I assume you run some flavor of Debian, be it Sarge, Etch, Sid, Ubuntu, DebianPure, etc., so you'll need to download the .deb package for Debian 3+ systems. Further down the page there are clear, easy to follow directions on how to install the package.
